DO
Local 744 is a part of the Great Lakes Area Apprenticeship Program.  Apprentices must comply with the National Apprenticeship Standards during the four (4) year apprenticeship.  They are required to complete Related Studies Lessons, Classroom Lessons, Monthly Job Reports and On-The-Job Training Modules.  All Apprentices are subject to BNAP Drug Testing prior to being indentured in to the Program.  Mandatory MOST Drug Testing continues throughout the four year apprenticeship and the Boilermaker’s career.

Apprentices are personally responsible for the completion of their lessons and reports.  Reminders are sent out prior to Testing and notices are sent regarding the actual test dates.  Failure to submit lessons and reports prior to the testing date may result in disciplinary action and/or termination.

Apprentices are required to take Performance Based Testing every six (6) months in order to advance to the next level.  Failure to pass said testing may result in being held back in the present period or termination from the program.

Local 744 Apprentices are required to attend classroom training held at our Training Facility.  You will be notified when to report for classes.  Classes are mandatory and it is your responsibility to be on time and prepared.  Any excuse for an absence must be approved by the Business Manager.

Local 744 Apprentices are encouraged to avail themselves of all the training available.  Learning to weld and practicing for Common Arc testing is vital.  Local 744 has held several Common Arc Testings in our Training Facility and our Apprenticeship Instructor is excellent is preparing welders for testing.

Local 744 Apprentices on the job must be aware of their environment at all times.  If you have any questions or concerns, immediately report to your Foreman or the Union Steward for instruction.

Local 744  and the Great Lakes Area Apprenticeship Program will not discriminate against apprenticeship applicants or apprentices based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex (including pregnancy and gender identity), sexual orientation, genetic information, or because they are an individual with a disability or a person 40 years or older.  We pledge to take affirmative action to provide equal opportunity in apprenticeship and will operate the apprenticeship program as required under Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations, part 30.
